Prospect Park Garden Walk (Summer)

The 11th annual Garden Walk is scheduled for Saturday, June 23, 2007 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. This year we will also be adding a Plant Sale.


The walk is free. Prospect Park is located west of Hwy 280 along University Avenue, with a landmark of the Witch's Hat Water Tower as part of the neighborhood. Pick up a map on the day of the walk at Schneider Drug or Cupcake on SE University Ave or Signature Cafe on SE Warwick St. or Pratt Elementary School. You will be able to tour over 20 local gardens that cover a variety of garden types: perennial and annual, vegetable and flower, shade and sun. Expect to see innovative use of space and growing conditions, especially shade (which Prospect Park has in abundance).

The Plant Sale will be located outside Pratt Elementary School. It is a fund raiser for the programs that the Prospect Park Garden Club supports such as:

• Pratt Elementary School
• Just Older Youth (JOY) Club
• Programs for buckthorn removal

The Garden Walks began in 1996. The 8th annual Prospect Park Garden Walk was held on Saturday, July 12th, 2003, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. There was no Garden Walk in 2004. The Garden Walks resumed in 2005.
