Events - Prospect Park Garden Walk & Plant Sale (Summer)
The 2015 Prospect Park Garden Walk and Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. (Rain or shine!). We’ll be holding our plant sale in the Franklin Oval.
We have gardens identified in Southeast end of the neighborhood: the Warwick, Cecil, Bedford, Seymour, Franklin and Emerald area including Chergosky Park at the foot of Seymour.
The tour will feature a variety of perennial and annual garden types, ranging from an urban farm lot and a large straw bale garden to a hillside fairy garden, one with a waterfall, and Signature Café's backyard pallet garden. There will also be an education station staffed by master gardeners who can answer all your garden-related questions.
The Garden Walk is FREE. Maps of the 2015 garden locations will be available the week before at designated neighborhood locations (or download one here --> MAP):
- Schneider Drug (3400 SE University Ave.),
- Signature Café (130 SE Warwick St.),
- Cupcake (3338 SE University Ave.),
- Overflow Espresso Café (2929 SE University Ave),
- Textile Center (3000 SE University Ave).
and on the day of the walk at the Garden Walk & Plant Sale table, located this year in the Franklin Oval pocket garden (at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Bedford St.).
The Plant Sale will also be located at the Franklin Oval. This is a fundraiser for the Prospect Park Garden Club and the neighborhood programs the Garden Club supports, including the pocket park plantings and buckthorn eradication throughout Prospect Park, Pratt Community School, and the JOY (Just Older Youth) Club.
