Pratt Community Center was created in 1982 when Pratt Elementary School was closed. In 2000, Pratt reopened as an elementary school phasing in one grade/year and now is a K-5.
The Center hosts a thriving Community Education Program of classes on diverse topics such as personal finance, art, computer workshops, cooking, languages, bike repair, exercise, ballet and belly dancing. Pratt Community Center also hosts programs in Adult Basic Education (GED), Early Childhood Family Education, English as a Second Language (ESL).
Community Programs housed here include: SouthEast Seniors, Block Nurse/Living At Home, Senior Outreach and JOY Seniors Social & Educational Events, after school program, and before and after school care. A new computer center is hooked to the Internet.
Annual events include: the Neighborhood Ice Cream Social (first Friday after Memorial Day), Summer Splash (sports, arts, outings for 6-11 year-olds), summer concerts, and a fall Neighborhood ("Boot") Sale and Pancake Breakfast.

A non-profit organization of volunteers who provide influence and advice on the use of the Minneapolis Public School's Pratt Community Education Center and Village Green Park as a neighborhood resource and service. The Pratt Council works through the Friends of Pratt (a group of annual contributors) to raise money for local program support and always welcomes new members. The council meets 3rd Thursdays 6 p.m., Sept - May, and is particularly interested in recruiting new members. The annual potluck/meeting is the 3rd Thursday in May.
